Como os dije, os pongo aquí la información que tenéis que copiar en vuestro portfolio y estudiarla después. Para que practiquéis, os dejo un texto corto que no os llevará más de 30 minutos completar.
El pasado continuo es una forma compuesta por el pasado del
verbo 'to be' (was/were) y el verbo principal acabado en -ing. ATENCIÓN: lo
que ponemos en pasado es el verbo auxiliar, o sea, el verbo 'to be'. El verbo
principal NO se pone en pasado sino acabado en -ing. (pg 55)
Cuando estamos contando hechos, podemos expresar secuencia
temporal de unas acciones que ocurren antes que otras o al mismo tiempo. Para
expresar esta alternancia, unos hechos se enuncian en pasado simple y otros en
pasado continuo. Este sentido se puede ver reforzado usando conectores como 'when/while'.
Para relatar hechos usando sólo el Pasado simple, podemos
usar conectores como ‘first, then, finally’.
Veamos algunos ejemplos de cómo usar ambos tiempos verbales

2.- ¿Nueva acción o todavía en
curso?
Si quieres expresar que una acción ocurre mientras otra está
en curso, se necesitan ambos tiempos verbales: Pasado Simple para la nueva
acción y Pasado Continuo para la acción en curso.

3.- ¿Sólo mencionar o
enfatizar la acción en curso?
¿Quieres solo mencionar la acción que tuvo lugar, o quieres
enfatizar que tuvo lugar bajo una cicunstancia concreta? Mira estos dos
ejemplos y saca tus propias conclusiones de cómo hacer esto.

Hay algunos verbos que normalmente sólo se usan en Simple Past:

Verbos de estado: be, cost, fit, mean, suit
Ejemplo: We

touch

Verbos que expresan emociones: hate, hope, like, love, prefer,
regret, want, wish
